The Language of Math -
Math sometimes seems to be a whole other language, even for English speakers! Word problems are especially difficult. Here are a few handouts where you can see some frequently used words and what they really mean.

Personal Dictionary or Booklet
Here you can download and print either a page or a booklet that will help you keep track of the words you struggle with in Math. You write the English word, the word in your own language and then draw a picture because pictures help us remember things. When it is time for homework, go back over your booklet or personal dictionary and make sure you understand. That way it is easier when you are studying for a test!

Math prefixes and suffixes
Prefixes are parts of a word that add meaning that are at the beginning of a word. Suffixes add meaning to the end of the word. Often, a suffix tells you what KIND of a word it is (a noun, adjective or verb).
